Watersep Products

WaterSep specific, high-capacity, anti-fouling UF and MF hollow fiber membranes are available in 3 lines, The Green Line, The Steamer Line and The ReUse Line.

Green Line HF Cartridges (Single-Use)
Green Line HF Cartridges (Single-Use)

WaterSep has developed a unique line of single-use, glycerin free(GF), low extractables hollow fiber cartridges, that significantly reduce the cost of ownership and eliminate pre-rinsing of the membrane.

WaterSep’s single-use hollow fiber cartridges – The Green Line – are manufactured in a completely glycerin free, environmentally friendly process, hence no pre-rinsing of the membrane is required. This saves valuable time and large consumption of high purity water. The new WaterSep Green Line HF cartridges offer:

  • Ready to use cross-flow filtration - no pre-rinse required
  • 80X reduction in extractables compaired to glycerin condition membranes
  • True plug-and-play at its best, connect, use and discard
  • No cleaning and cleaning validation required
  • Self contained HF cartridges - no hardware - no installation
  • 100% integrity tested
  • Very cost effective, compared to cassettes
  • A complete line of UF and MF membranes available

Discover Green - 1/4" HF cartridges for small volume membrane screening and product discovery applications. Sample volumes between 10 - 400ml

Explorer Green - 1/2" HF cartridges for cross-flow development work and laboratory scale applications. Sample volume between 150 - 1500ml

Investigator Green - 1" HF cartridges for pilot and scale up applications. Sample volume between 1L - 12L.

Our filters are constructed and configured based upon the following variables:

Membrane Cut-off 5K, 10K, 30K, 50K, 100K, 300K, 500K, 750K
Membrane Pore Size 0.1μm, 0.2μm and 0.45μm
Fiber ID 1.0mm

Steamer Line HF Cartridges (Autoclavable)

The Steamer hollow fiber cartridges are gamma irradiated, autoclavable, re-usable hollow fiber cartridge, based on a low binding, antifouling, modified PES hollow fiber membrane.

Similar to the Green Line Single Use HF Cartridges from WaterSep, the Steamer has an uniquely low extractable level, eliminating any pre-rinse, (See Figure 1) but is also in addition autoclavable and compatible with 1M caustic for cleaning and sanitization.

The
Steamer

Cartridges in the Steamer series are available in WaterSep's well known mini-Discover, Discover, Explorer, Investigator and BioProducer formats, which are ideal for exploratory work, process development and production scale applications.

With the Steamer hollow fiber cartridges you achieve consistent, reliable cell clarification, cell harvest, concentration and diafiltration, without the hassle of membrane assembly, pre-rinse or additional hardware. The Steamer series are available in WaterSep’s wellknown Discover/MiniDiscover, Explorer, Investigator and BioProducer formats, which makes it ideal for both exploratory work, process development and production scale applications.

The Steamer hollow fiber cartridges are manufactured in a completely glycerin free, environmentally friendly process, hence no pre-rinsing of the membrane is required. This saves valuable time and large consumption of high purity water or buffer. The Steamer Line offers:

  • Ready to use cross-flow filtration - no pre-rinse required.
  • Autoclavable up to 3 times.
  • 80X reduction in extractables compaired to glycerin condition membranes.
  • True plug-and-play at its best, connect, use and discard or clean and re-use.
  • Can be cleaned with 0.5 – 1.0 M NaOH.
  • Self contained HF cartridges - no hardware - no installation.
  • 100% integrity tested.
  • Very cost effective, compared to cassettes.
  • A complete line of UF and MF membranes available.

ReUse HF Cartridges
ReUse HF Cartridges

The WaterSep product offering is based on 3 fluid path lengths -12" - 24" - 41"- that are consistent throughout the entire product line. This enables easy and reliable scale-up and scale-down of your process, by choosing between four different hollow fiber diameters (shown below).

Discover is the small volume hollow fiber device for initial membrane applications with sample volumes between 10 – 400 ml. Discover is compatible with most automated process development systems.
Explorer series is recommended for membrane screening and laboratory volumes up to 3L
Investigator is ideal for process development and pilot applications with 1L - 25L process streams
Producer series are our large scale high capacity hollow fiber cartridges for product batches up to several thousand liter.

The higher membrane flux (flow rate/unit surface area) and optimized hollow fiber packing density in our cartridges ensures larger process capacity and more economical systems with smaller footprint.

Connections and overall dimensions are compatible with competitive cartridges for easy and effective retro fit. Just by replacing your current hollow fiber cartridge with an optimized WaterSep product you can achieve higher capacity and higher yield in your process.

Our filters are constructed and configured based upon the following variables:

MWCO / Pore Size / Cut-off 5K, 10K, 30K, 50K, 100K, 300K, 500K, 750K, 0.1μm, 0.2μm and 0.45μm
Cartridge Diameter 0.4", 0.5", 1.3", 3"
Cartridge Length 12", 24", 41"
